Chalerm may commit new animosity: Democrat spokesman

The remarks by Pheu Thai MP Chalerm Yoobamrung have signalled the worrisome trend for a new round of fractious politics, Democrat Party spokesman Buranaj Smutharak said on Friday.

After his return from a meeting with ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, Chalerm suspiciously vowed to carry on the struggle against the government planned for inside and outside of Parliament, Buranaj said.

"The animosity might inflame the political situation and derail the efforsts to foster reconciliation," he said.

He urged the opposition lawmakers to cooperate in overcoming the turmoil instead of resorting to the old-style politicking designed to sway the sentiment for self-serving gains.

"Politics should be driven by facts and not the instigation to cause social divisions," he said.
