Somchai said an embassy official had spoken with Keigo's aunt, Patama Jutupit, about the contact in which Katsumi Sato reportedly admitted Keigo was his son by a now deceased Thai woman registered as his wife.
The embassy will arrange a telephone conversation for Keigo and Katsumi within the week. However the governor said the embassy refused to reveal details of the call as Katsumi wished to have a private talk with his son. The media should wait and interview the boy after he had talked to his father, the governor said.
Somchai said the media had played an important role in enabling Keigo's father to learn about the boy, contact him and later to meet with him. Keigo's search for his father was widely publicised locally and internationally.
He said the province would accommodate Keigo and his aunt's travel to Bangkok for the phone conversation. Later the province will host a traditional Likae play as the governor had promised in a prayer to the sacred Luangpor Petch to assist the boy.
