Suparat Kawatkul
The committee acted on the recommendation of the National Anti-Corruption Commission to dispel Suparat for severe criminal and disciplinary offences. The NACC ruled earlier that Suparat had unlawfully appointed four deputy director-generals of the Revenue Department.
Suparat can still appeal against the decision with the Civil Service Commission.
Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij said the Civil Service Committee is expected to complete the written dismissal order within 3 days, for submission to the Civil Service Commission and the NACC.
Then, the issue would be submitted to the Cabinet within 15 days.
"The committee could not rule otherwise, even though (Suparat) has done good deeds in his capacity. It's the same case as when Sirote Sawasdipanich, former director-general of the Revenue Department, was dismissed for not collecting taxes on the sale of Shin Corp's shares," he said.
Deputy Finance Permanent Secretary Wisut Srisupan was appointed as acting permanent secretary, until there is official appointment.
