Somyos Preuksakasemsuk and Jaran Dittaapichai, two of the leaders of the DAAD, announced the plan Friday at a forum held to commemorate the May 1992 uprising.
The first issue of Red News will be published on May 29.
Former Kalasin senator Wiboon Chamcheun is set to serve as editor of the paper, which will be published every five days. He said the first issue of the tabloid would have a print run of about 50,000 copies.
Wiboon said Red News would present news and facts on what is happening in Thailand, especially in regard to national and local politics.
He said there was no financier behind the newspaper and the DAAD would therefore hold a fundraising event on May 23.
