A sudden fever was cited as the reason.
He had been scheduled to make his tellall statement at 12.30pm yesterday.
Army chief General Anupong Paochinda said any Army officer found involved in the shooting of Sondhi would be punished unconditionally. He said the Army would cooperate with police and allow any officers to be summoned or questioned by police during the investigation.
"No one is above the law. Those responsible for any crime must be treated equally, whether they are civilians or those serving in the Army," he said.
Anupong said he had not received a formal request from police asking for an investigation into a piece of evidence that three M16 spent cartridges found at the scene were from a lot of bullets distributed to the 9th Infantry Division.
"I need the media's help [in speeding up police procedure], as I've said many times that the Army would fully cooperate with police. But until now, the Army and I have not received any documents from the police requesting a joint probe [into the use of Armyowned bullets in the shooting]," he added.
Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said the attempt on Sondhi's life would not affect the government's political stability and that he would not pressure police to hurry the investigation.
