SMEs expect tough times for at least 2 years

Small and medium-sized enterprises estimated that it would take at least two years to tackle their accumulated problems as well as the result of the economic crisis, according to the Office for Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion.

While they are dealing with lower demand due to global crisis, they have to tackle their own weaknesses in marketing, operations, production, technology, human resources, and financial.

In a nationwide survey on April 9, the majority of them, 98.66 per cent, is concerned in investment outlook and export capability. 97.21 per cent is worried about the political problems which would affect investor and tourist confidence. 96.23 per cent is concerned that consumers may prefer saving than spending due to political problems. Most of the SMEs believed that domestic problems are more severe than the global conditions, while they have to protect their domestic market shares from major players.
