Clothes firm kicks up fuss over Channel 11's new logo

Clothes firm kicks up fuss over Channel 11's new logo

Public Relations Department director-general Phachern Khampho will talk to a private company in a bid to settle a dispute over Channel 11's new logo.

The new logo for state-run Channel 11 or NBT is very similar to the one used by clothes-manufacturer Golden Bowl.

Golden Bowl clothes carry the Bowling trademark and are available in many department stores.

In a letter sent to PM's Office Minister Satit Wongnongtaey, the company demanded that Channel 11 stop using its new logo by May 9.

Satit oversees the Public Relations Department, which has Channel 11 under its supervision.

"We will try to explain that we have no intention of violating the company's trademark or anything. The new logo for Channel 11 is shown on TV screens only and will not appear on any product," Satit said yesterday.

He added that the new logo had emerged from a logo contest judged by distinguished persons from various industries.

"We didn't intend to copy the Golden Bowl logo," he insisted.

Held earlier this year, the contest attracted more than 2,000 entries.
