
The previous April 10-11 summit in Pattaya was abruptly cancelled after anti-government protesters stormed into the venue.
Asean's member countries and dialogue partners want Thailand to reschedule the summit for as soon as possible, said Surin.
However, Thailand as the chair of Asean is not yet able to fix a date since the heads of some member countries will not be available during late May and early June, he added.
Leaders of Asean nations and dialogue partners understand the Thai political situation and none of them has asked for a safety guarantee for the next meeting, Surin said.
