The Foreign Ministry has told governments overseas that Thaksin Shinawatra no longer holds a Thai passport and that it is up to them if they accept any other travel documents he might hold, Permanent Secretary Virasakdi Futrakul said yesterday.
The government has also informed the United Arab Emirates and Nicaragua, via diplomatic channels, about Thaksin's legal status and travel papers, he said. A UAE representative attended the briefing at Government House yesterday and took notes, he said.
The ministry was checking to see if a Nicaraguan passport allegedly issued to Thaksin had been revoked since news reports about the matter were confusing, he said.
The government was in the process of hunting Thaksin down and bringing him home to face justice. The former PM's whereabouts were not immediately clear.
