Siam Paragon loses Bt40 mn a day

The Mall Group will lose Bt40 million in daily revenue following the closure of Siam Paragon, said The Mall Group senior vice president Paiboon Kanokwattanawan.

He noted that the group decided to close Siam Paragon because it is full of brandname products and damage could be huge. Meanwhile, all other The Mall outlets remained open due to extraordinary demand for food and consumer products, as small shops were closed due to the riots.

Paiboon expressed his concerns that the crackdown wouldn't solve the political conflicts. Even if all protesters are dispersed, they would gather again to attack the prime minister wherever he goes. More protests will follow.

"Negotiations are now the best tool to solve this. Everything should be put on a discussion table and both sides need to give in," he said.
