Lumpini police are hunting down a man identified merely as Mour, the name he used when registering for two rooms at the Grand Sukhumvit Hotel on Wednesday morning along with the victim, Heo In Hee, and another Korean man known merely as Khon.
Police are also looking for a fourth man seen in video footage from security cameras.
Chief investigator Pol Colonel Sombat Milinthajinda said police were trying to locate Mour to solve the murder, after questioning Khon, who was not fully cooperative, but denied a role in the murder. Khon said Mour was supposed to pick him up in the morning to attend a meeting at a Thai public company.
The officer added that initial crime scene reports ruled out suicide as the cause of Ho's death. According to video footage from security cameras, Mour entered Ho's room at 7am and left three minutes later. The time matched the police coroners' report indicating the time of death.
Ho was found lying on the bed, on his right side, with a single entry bullet hole at the back of the head. A Smith & Wesson revolver was found, with one spent cartridge on the bed and five bullets in the gun's chamber.
According to police, Ho, 42, was a tour guide and owed an amount of money to Mour, who did not work at Ho's company but regularly used his connection with Ho to earn discounts for hotel room bookings. Khon said he did not know why Ho was killed and he did not hear the gunshot and stayed in his room next door.
