Thailand looks to export ethanol to Japan

Thailand's ethanol producers will benefit from Japan's planned gasohol E3 policy, as the country should need 16 million litres of ethanol per day, said Energy Minister Wannarat Charn-nukul.

He said Thai producers can beat those in China and India due to the variety of raw materials and the cheaper costs. Meanwhile, Thailand promises lower transportation cost than Brazil.

He expected Japan to announce the policy implementation at the Asian Energy Ministers Meeting on April 26 in Japan, where they will brainstorm for measures to stabilise energy prices in the medium and long term as well as energy efficiency.
