Sun Ranked Number One in the Thailand UNIX Server Market in Revenues in 2008


Sun Microsystems today announced that it topped the UNIX server market in Thailand in terms of factory revenue in 2008, according to IDC Asia/Pacific Enterprise Server Tracker, CY2008 Q4 2008, Feb 2009.

The report said that Sun maintained its leadership position in terms of factory revenue, with 38.5% share in the Thailand UNIX server market in CY 2008. 

IDC also reported that Sun grew its Windows server revenues by 370.8% in terms of factory revenue and while unit shipments increased 297.5% in CY 2008 compared with CY 2007. The launch of Sun's quad-core Intel Xeon processor-based systems, Sun Fire X4450 and Sun Fire X4150 is likely to be the catalyst bringing Sun into a new chapter in the Windows server arena.
