Programming revamp
Channel 5 will revamp its noon programming in a bid to boost ratings.
Starting tomorrow, a variety show will replace "The Money Channel", produced by the Stock Exchange of Thailand but which has expired. Soap-opera reruns will also be aired.
"We expect to increase viewers from 200,000 to 500,000 by this small programme reshuffle at noon," General Kittitas Bumnejpan, head of Royal Thai Army Television, said yesterday.
The noon ratings has failed to meet the target. Kittitas believes soap-opera reruns can draw a bigger women's audience.
Ad revenue for each programme has dropped 20 per cent quarter on quarter, but the channel's first-quarter revenue should increase 3-5 per cent, he added.
