Inthorn Saenphibal, 51, met with police at the Metropolitan Police Bureau headquarters with a lawyer, and refused to give a media interview. His lawyer said later Inthorn would speak only during the trial.
The suspect, a retired Army lance corporal, has been charged with murder and attempted murder. A court will decide today whether Inthorn will be released on bail, but police are expected to oppose the request.
Bangkok police chief Pol Lt General Worraphong Chiwapreecha said police had sufficient evidence against the suspect, despite his initial alibi that he was at another location during the shootings, which saw two men hired as security guards by protesting vendors killed and two others injured on March 18.
The vendors have demanded an end to the current concession to run the market granted to the company. Another Legal Professional security guard, Sarawuth Saiprasom, 36, earlier surrendered to police allegedly following his role in the shooting.
Police employed stakeouts and surveillance to track the suspect, and learned he had fled to Ratchaburi province,Worraphong said
He said Inthorn was under heavy pressure and had decided to turn himself in to police.
