Phetchaburi's annual fair will be extra special this year, as Phra Nakhon Khiri or Khao Wang, the main venue for the activities, is celebrating its 150th anniversary. The fair runs from April 10 to 19 at Khao Wang and elsewhere in the city and features local dishes, Thai desserts, stage performances and fantastic firework displays every night.

Bangkok Airways wins Best Asian Airway award

Bangkok Airways picked up the "Best Regional Airline" prize at the Go Asia Awards, held during the recent ITB 2009 in Berlin. The award was the result of votes cast through www.GoAsia.de by more than 8,000 German-speaking readers of the Reise + Preise Magazine between October 1 and February 15. Keerati Chantree, sales manager at Bangkok Airways' Frankfurt office, received the accolade on behalf of the company from Gunter Fritsch, President of the Federal State Parliament of Brandenburg.

A great way to fly

After the successful launch of the A380 on its Sydney and Auckland routes in February, Emirates, the Dubaibased airline, has announced that it will introduce the A380 service to Bangkok on June 1. 2009. The double-decker plane is set in a three-class configuration: 14 First, 76 Business and 399 Economy Class, with the whole of the upper deck dedicated to Premium Class passengers. First class customers will experience flatbed massage-equipped private suites and onboard shower spas while Business Class passengers can enjoy a new generation of intelligent seating and flatbeds plus an in-flight entertainment system featuring more than 1,000 channels of on-demand entertainment.

Songkran on Samui

Chill out with more than 5,000 music lovers at the largest out¬door venue in Southeast Asia at the very first Songkran International Dance Music Festival, which will be held at Lake View Dance Arena, Koh Samui on April 14. Taking part are DJ Judge Jules, Graham Gold, Gary Gecko, Asambai, Simon Solo, Adam Matson, David Sambor and DJ A. The festival kicks off at 6 and ends at 6 the following morning.
