"I want nobody nobody but you, I want nobody nobody but you.
"Nan dareun sarameun sirheo niga animyeon sirheo.
"I want nobody nobody nobody nobody."
You may have heard the pop¬ular song "Nobody" at least once in recent months, as it is the biggest hit by the popular South Korean girl band the Wonder Girls.
But something happened on Tuesday at a thankyou party for the press at the central bank's Bang Khun Phrom Palace that knocked the Wonder Girls out as the new hot talk of the town.
A new girl band was launched, creating an overnight sensation with a dancing style only slightly less sexy than that of the Wonder Girls. But still the band may not have become such a hit if one of the girls had not been named Tarisa Watanagase.
To surprise the media, the idea of having the Bank of Thailand (BOT) governor dance to "Nobody" was kept secret until the night of the party.
When the song started its intro, we saw our centralbank governor wearing a black dress together with other senior BOT executives, and then they began dancing. The other girlband members were Deputy Governor Atchana Waiquamdee, Deputy Governor Nitaya Pibulratanagit, Assistant Governor Tongurai Limpiti and senior director Amara Sriphayak.
A BOT source said the danc¬ing concept was modified slightly from that of the Wonder Girls to be somewhat less sexy but still meaningful. Their body language was saying they could tell you something, but that something must be kept secret. This is really typical centralbanker practice.
Well, this is actually a tem¬porary girl band, but their highspirited performance aimed at entertaining the media was likely to leave a permanent impression on all of the attendees.
One part of you will remem¬ber the gentle yet rigid gestures of these BOT ladies while hold¬ing forth about interestrate movements, macroeconomic indicators and financialinstitu¬tion dealings. And now another part will clearly remember their dancing spree and more relaxed side. All observers agreed it was a very pleasant surprise indeed.
