Thais rejoice seeing HM the King leave hospital

Thai people rejoiced upon seeing His Majesty the King leave Siriraj Hospital early yesterday morning after a break from the public scene.

His Majesty went to the hospital for a routine check-up on Wednesday and left at around 3am yesterday. He was greeted with cheers and smiles by a large crowd of admirers gathered at the hospital.

The crowd chanted "Long Live the King" throughout his brief presence as he left the hospital in a motorised wheelchair to return to Chitralada Palace. Neither his doctors nor the Royal Household Bureau have released the results of the check-up.

The crowds had earlier welcomed Her Majesty the Queen, HRH Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn and HRH Princess Srirasmi, the Royal Consort, on their way into the hospital on Thursday evening to visit the King. This prompted more admirers to come and wait at the hospital throughout the evening.

In Pattani, Muslim locals said a prayer at the provincial mosque for good health and to bless the King. Hundreds of Muslims took part in the session, which began at the auspicious hour of 1pm. Hayihagobe Raimanee, the provincial chief imam, said all Muslims wished HM the King good health.
