Fund sought for senior journalists


A daughter of a senior journalist has planned to mobilise money under her father's name to raise fund for senior Thai reporters.

The fund will be named "Nares Naropakon Fund for senior journalist colleagues". The fund is named after Nares Naropakorn, a senior journalist and the author of "Sao Eay Ja Bok Hai" and "Noom Eay Ja Bok Hai", passed away earlier this month at the age of 79 years old. 

Narisa Naropakorn, Nares's daughter, said the funeral was conducted on March 8. Narisa said that she wanted to raise the money from the copyrights and books written by Nares to finance the fund which will provide financial support for senior reporters.

Narisa made the first donation worth Bt10,000. At present, some publishers are interested to make additional contribution to support the fund.

Nares said one of respectable journalists who had an extensive body of works including news stories, poem and books. He used to write for Siam Rath newspaper.

"Nares Naropakorn Fund for senior journalist colleagues" will contribute to Thai Journalists Association's Broken Wing Reporters Fund, aimed to assist retired reporters in need.
