Rules relaxed for exporters

Exporters will be allowed to unwind their hedging positions without seeking the Bank of Thailand's permission.

Suchada Kirakul, assistant governor of the central bank, said on Tuesday that this would give the exporters some flexbility in managing their foreign exchange positions, at the times when many overseas clients suffer from the financial crisis.

The central bank is completing a risk managing manual. Suchada said there would be discussions with exporters on what rules which could be relaxed.
