Another travel fair at QSNCC

The 15th Discovery Thailand & Discovery World 2009 fair was kicked off on Thursday at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, where 200,000-300,000 visitors are expected to show up during the 4-day event.

They are expected to to spend about Bt200-Bt300 million for tour packages and accommodations, said organiser PK Exhibition Management.

Krit Patarapal, managing director, said among 1,000 booths, 80 per cent is hotels and resorts. About 300,000 visitors are expected to join the fair which will run until March 8.

He said economic problems should encourage Thais to travel more, aside from discounts.

It was reported that the event draws a large number of visitors on the first day, which led to heavy traffic congestion around the convention centre.
