The party executive board is expected to formalise Chalerm's nomination by March 11.
"Chalerm is the main driving force to file the motion of no confidence, hence he should be honoured for his work," chief opposition whip Withaya Buranasiri said.
Withaya said the main opposition party would duly inform its partners, comprising the Pracharat Party and the splinter group from the Puea Pandin Party.
He said the censure debate would take place even though the coalition partners might neither co-sponsor the censure motion nor approve of the choice of Chalerm to replace Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.
The opposition partners have been scheduled today for a meeting.
The issues and targets for censure will likely be finalised next week.
