PTT to be compensated for LPG import subsidies

The National Energy Policy Committee on Tuesday approved the payment of compensations on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) imports to PTT Plc, amounting to Bt7.948 billion. The compensations will be cleared within 2 years.

It also approved the Oil Fund to set aside no more than Bt500 million each month to support the LPG imports.

Energy Minister Wannarat Charn-nukul as chairman of the committee said that as of February 26, the Oil Fund amassed Bt19.84 billion of cash, against the debts of Bt3.22 billion.

The committee also approved the new pricing structure of pure biodiesel or B100, which would be temporarily in place until May 2009. The new price is determined by the local palm oil prices, plus Bt2.25 per kg as refining margin. The old price was Bt3 per kg above the crude palm oil price quoted in Malaysia.
