
Only 32,085 units were sold in the month. Toyota remained the No.1 player, with the sale of 13,455 units or a market share or 41.94 per cent, followed by Isuzu that sold 7,123 units or 22.2 per cent and Honda that sold 5,304 or 16.53 per cent.
Of total units sold, 15,350 were pickup trucks, which showed a 39.56 per cent plunge on year. Passenger cars also posted a 9.96 per cent drop with the sale figures of 13,527 units.
All auto companies experienced a sharp fall in sales. Suffering the most is Mitsubishi of which sales dropped 49.27 per cent on year, followed by Nissan's 43.74 per cent and Isuzu's 31.46 per cent. At Toyota and Honda, sales also dropped 23.70 per cent and 25.01 per cent on year.
Auto companies earlier asked the government to cut value-added taxes to boost domestic sales. They also asked for a cut in excise taxes.
