Thaksin's foremost concern is not safety but jail term: Suthep

The foremost concern of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra is not safety but how to evade his two-year jail term if he decides to end his exile and return home, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thuagsuban said on Tuesday.

"I can not verify whether Thaksin is coming back home although the government is ready to ensure his safety," Suthep said.

He was reacting to comments by a number of opposition lawmakers that Thaksin might return to Thailand soon.

He said he would guarantee to personally supervise and ensure Thaksin's safety.
