Two rebels, one civilian killed in Thai south: police

Two suspected rebels were killed yesterday in a shootout with security forces in the far South, police said, while a civilian was shot dead in separatist violence.

The militants killed in Songkhla province yesterday afternoon had outstanding arrest warrants against them related to the region's insurgency, Colonel Trivit Sriprapa of the local police station said.

In nearby Pattani province on Wednesday, a 35yearold man was killed in a driveby shooting by suspected rebels, police said.
