Japan shows overwhelming interest to Thailand's roadshows

Over 1,000 Japanese industrialists and investors attended Thailand's roadshow in Japan, according to Stock Exchange of Thailand President Patareeya Benjapholchai.

She said the audiences raised many questions to the Thai delegation led by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, mostly concerning the economic stimulus measures and the Foreign Business Act.

"They were pleased with the measures but urged the government to speed up the implementation. They showed confidence in the government, with the prime minister's insistence in solving political conflicts through legal means. Moreover, the prime minister also insisted that the foreign business laws would not be amended in the way that it would pose obstacles to investment," she noted.

Still, the roadshow would not lead to immediate returns of investment to the Thai stock exchange, she admitted.
