SOLUTIONS REDUCE PRODUCTION COSTS

Local energy-saving company turns to exports

Energy Maintenance Service plans sales in Europe, Singapore and Malaysia

Phuket-based designer of energy-saving products, Energy Maintenance Service (EMS), is planning to enter markets around the world over the next few years, as well as listing on the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI).

The company's research and development manager, Nuanla-ong Srichumpon, said EMS would begin offering its energy-management solutions through business partners in Europe, Singapore and Malaysia this year.

The company has developed energy-management solutions in two areas: energy saving and renewable energy .

"We developed energy-management software and solutions to help organisations, enterprises and business to reduce their costs and to increase productivity and efficiency by at least 10 per cent," Nuanla-ong said.

She said the company had two energy-saving solutions, Demand Control and Chiller Plan Energy Management (CPEM).

Demand Control is able to serially monitor real-time demand and electrical loads, automatically create load controls and print out reports of demand history. Under normal circumstances it is able to save the costs of electrical demand by 10 to 30 per cent. The solution also comes with an air-conditioning saving system which enables organisations to set different temperatures according to the time of day. Depending on the air-conditioning system in use, this can save 7 to 15 per cent on electricity bills.

The chiller plant energy management system provides automatic controls to manage energy consumption throughout an entire plant. It uses technology to save energy by introducing small flow reductions and integrates the functions of all related chillers, pumps and cooling towers. CPEM also comes with a building automation system and Demand Control, to help an organisation to balance its consumption of electricity and use of air-conditioning.

"CPEM is capable of reducing energy consumption on electrical systems and air-conditioning by about 10 to 30 per cent," Nuanla-ong said.

In the renewable energy area, the firm has developed a biomass boiler-control system called Biomass Fired Absorption Chiller. It uses biomass fuels such as wood residues or palm and coconut shells to create energy which can save a company's energy costs by up to 35 per cent.

"We provide total solutions and tailor-made systems designed for hot country application. They are suitable for medium to large buildings or factories and can achieve average savings from 3 to 20 per cent," Nuanla-ong said.

The firm has more than 10 business and enterprise customers including Panasonic, Tesco Lotus, Bangkok's Rama Gardens Hotel, CPF and Canon.

Nuanla-ong said her company expected to generate revenue of around Bt70 million in 2009, doubling last year's growth. It also plans to list on the Market for Alternative Investment within the next couple of years, when annual revenue reaches Bt300 million.
