Samsung WB500: World’s first 24mm ultra-wide lens digital

World's first 24mm ultra-wide lens digital

Samsung introduced the WB500, a high performance camera featuring the world's first 24mm ultra-wide lens with 10x zoom. The latest addition further expands Samsung's camera offerings and demonstrates its commitment to offer a full range of cameras to suit every consumer lifestyle.

Boonlerd Viboonkiat, business group leader - IT, Thai Samsung Electronics said "We will leverage our innovative advantage to pack the best performance in our digital still cameras. Our goal is to bring the ultimate digital imaging experience to consumers by designing cameras that are specialized to meet varying consumer needs. The mega-zoom and ultra-wide WB500 offers a farther and wider view, perfect for consumers who want to capture their world like never before."

Shooters can now be even more creative when taking digital images with the ultra-wide 24mm Schneider lens and 10x optical zoom in the Samsung WB500 which offers unprecedented flexibility to fit more of the desired scene at any distance into any shot. A host of manual controls, including the ability to adjust shutter speed, aperture, exposure and focus give WB500 users greater control in how they shoot images. Endorsed by world-renowned photographer Nadav Kandar, the WB500 also incorporates both Optical and Digital Image Stabilization to help reduce image blur.

Video shooting is a breeze with the WB500 which can capture videos in 720p high-definition at 30 frames-per-second (fps). Thanks to the H.264 compression, users can record videos for longer periods of time, allowing them to better utilize the remaining memory capacity on their memory card. Additionally, shooters can utilize the Optical Image Stabilization function and the camera's 10x optical zoom while recording video, as well as Samsung's Successive

Recording mode, which allows the user to pause and then resume filming without having to save the clips as individual files. Samsung's proprietary Smart Album program, a useful tool which allows users to search for a specific image from the various files they have saved on their memory card, is also incorporated into the WB500.

The Samsung WB500 will be available in Thailand, 2009 in black and grey from February onwards at a recommended retail price of Bt11,990.
