Noppawan's Aussie Dream Shattered By Old Foe

Noppawan's Aussie Dream Shattered By Old Foe

Noppawan failed to win her first Slam singles trophy

The run of Noppawan Lertcheewakarn at the junior Australian Open came to an end on Friday after she lost the singles semi-final to old rival Laura Robson of Great Britain 4-6 3-6.

The top seed blew away a 4-2 lead in the opening set before the fifth seed Robson turned the tide to win the match after 73 minutes of play.

Robson stamped her authority over the Thai whom she beat in three sets for the Wimbledon junior title last year.

However, Noppawan still has the doubles semi-final to compete as she and Indonesian Beatrice Gumulya are to meet Serbian Alexandra Krunic and Poland's Sandra Zaniewska later today.
