SCIB to lend Bt16 bn to SMEs

Siam City Bank targets to lend Bt16 billion to small and medium-sized enterprises, up 5 per cent from last year. To promote the lending, it has opened 5 business centres, with the latest in Surat Thani opened on Thursday.

CEO Chaiwat Utaiwan said the Surat Thani centre should be able to extend Bt1.5 billion of loans per annum, and within 3 years its client base should cover at least 1,500 new SMEs. Thanks to the four centres, the bank loaned Bt15 billion in the last nine months of last year, or a 16.8 per cent growth rate.

He admitted that loan extension in the first half may slow, but could pick up in the latter half.
