Chinese New Year spending to rise 9% on year

Thailand's consumer spending during the Chinese New Year would increase 9 per cent from the previous year to Bt130 billion, according to Bank of Thailand.

Banknotes worth Bt300 billion are prepared for the Jan 12-26 period, up 3 per cent from last year, but only Bt130 billion is expected to be withdrawn.
