Datsakorn is fit for opening match

Thailand received good news after touching down in Jordan's capital, Amman, with key midfielder Datsakorn Thonglao being declared fit for the opening match of the Asian Cup qualifiers tomorrow.

The Thai team is seeking to banish memories of the heartbreaking loss to Vietnam in the final of last month's Asean Football Federation's Suzuki Cup with a strong start to the qualifying campaign in Group E, which also includes regional powerhouse Iran, and Singapore.

After taking a four-hour flight from its training camp in Qatar, the team, led by assistant trainer Steve Derby after national coach Peter Reid had to return to England due to a family bereavement, was greeted with chilly conditions in Amman. The daytime temperatures are hovering around 13 degrees Celsius but can drop to below zero at night.
