
The spending was 2.77 per cent down on year, or Bt2.5 billion from Bt92 billion in the previous year.
Top 10 spenders in 2008 in the year were Unilever, Bt4.4 billion; P&G, Bt1.73 billion, Toyota Motor Thailand, Bt1.48 billion; L'Oreal (Thailand), Bt1.4 billion; Advanced Info Service, Bt1.2 billion; Osotspa, Bt1.18 billion; Bieorsdorf (Thailand), Bt1.12 billion; PTT, Bt1.06 billion; Nestle (Thai), Bt1.05 billion; and Colgate-Palmolive, Bt1.045 billion. Some spent mroe than in the previous year, and others less.
TV ad spending showed the highest annualised drop, down 4.4 per cent from Bt53.5 billion in the previous year to Bt51 billion. Trailing behind was the spending in magazines, as the value dropped 4.02 per cent to Bt5.8 billion. Ad spending in newspapers also declined 3.3 per cent to Bt15 billion. Ad spending in theatres was down 3.87 per cent to Bt4.2 billion and in-store down 1.75 per cent to Bt560 million.
Showing growth was the radio and transit media which grew 9.73 per cent to Bt6.9 billion and 42.26 per cent to Bt1.36 billion, respectively.
In December alone, the spending declined 7.28 per cent on year to Bt7.64 billion. Suffering the most were magazines, newspapers and television channels.
