Lamphun sees highest turnout


The voter turnout rate for the Sunday by-election for 29 MPs in 22 provinces was 55.47 per cent, the Election Commission reported on Monday.

Election Commission secretary-general Suthipol Thaweechaikarn said the number of voters who exercised the voting right reached 4,347,913 or 55.47 per cent from the total 7,838,714 eligible voters.

Invalid ballot was 3.57 per cent or 155,163. The number of voters who ticked no vote was 7.11 per cent or 308,947.

Lamphun topped as the province with the highest turnout rate of 75.26 per cent or 234,103 voters. Samut Prakan had the least turnout rate of 43.37 per cent or 156,582 voters.

Nakhon Phanom reported the highest electoral complaints with 11 complaints having been accepted by the Election Commission for investigation.
