Kantana expands into Vietnam

Major production house Kantana has made a foray into the post-production business in Vietnam as part of its shift of focus to overseas markets.

Kantana chief executive Jareuk Kaljareuk said yesterday that it had this year set up a post-production firm in Vietnam to serve the growing movie and advertising businesses there.

Vietnam has a population of about 80 million and produces about 10 films per year.

Revenue from overseas accounted for 50 to 55 per cent of the company's income last year, and the proportion is expected to reach 60 per cent this year. The company is expected to post revenue of between Bt2.3 billion to 2.4 billion this year, close to the 2008 level.

Jareuk said the company was now focusing on post-production business, which has attracted many foreign clients.

Kantana's post-production business is expected to produce between 8,000 and 10,000 copies of films this year, in line with last year.
