MPs Somchai Phetprasert and Prasert Chanruangthong yesterday represented the party in filing the case for Chai's impeachment, the spokesman said.
He said the Parliament president, who is also the House speaker, had conspired with Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya in moving the parliamentary meeting for the PM to deliver his government's policy statement from Parliament to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"The act was against the law. Some MPs and senators did not know about the change of meeting venue while others knew about the changes but could not attend. As a result, damage was caused," said the Pheu Thai spokesman.
"The acts by Chai and Prime Minister Abhisit, with the support from Foreign Minister Kasit, were a misdeed aimed at allowing Abhisit to announce his government policies behind the back of Parliament," Prompong said.
If the Supreme Court accepts the petition, an independent investigative team will be set up to determine if there is any ground to refer the case to the National Counter Corruption Commission.
If the NCCC agrees to the allegation, it will refer the case to the Attorney-General's Office so that the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Political Office Holders will rule whether Chai should be impeached. With a guilty ruling from the court, the Senate will then vote to impeach Chai.
