Some 30 red shirt protesters who were loyal to fugitive ex-PM Thaksin Shinwatra shouted "get out" and demanded for Abhisit government to dissolve the House.
Earlier upon seeing the protesters rally at the gate of the Government House, Niphon who was on his way to pay respect to the Shrine, said "Never mind, they will not be able to recognise me."
However shortly after he said that, the protesters pelted the eggs to his group.
The egg attack came a day after the red shirt protesters hurled eggs at Democrat chief advisor Chuan Leekpai who was during a political campaign in Lampang. The eggs did not miss the target. Chuan, former premier, said he was not worried about the incident and will continue the campaign in the northern provinces.
Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Theugsuban criticised on Wednesday the attack on Chuan, saying their acts against Chuan and obstruction of political campaigning are illegal.
