A modern contemporary theme is probably the easiest for home-owners planning to decorate their home because finding furniture is easy, and making-over their old furniture is a real option to match their lifestyle.
Home-builder firm Seacon's general manager Supitcha Chaipipat said residential design was lately focused on modern contemporary style because it allowed mixing and matching to meet the demands of younger-generation home-owners and it was easy to find furniture to suit any taste.
"In our experience, customers want to build their homes according to a modern contemporary style because it shows the building structure and it looks simple, by mixing and matching with earth-tone colours," she said.
Home-owners can find furniture, make it themselves, or have it made, by selecting natural wood matched with leather.
Asian Property Development's senior executive vice president Visanu Suchatlumpong said Canadian Calum Srigley designed the company's project The Rhythm at Ratchada in modern contemporary style, by changing the room structure. What once progressed from kitchen to living room and bedroom now begins with a living room and the kitchen is beside the bedroom. The kitchen has a counter and a relaxing dining area close to a wide glass balcony door. Home-owners can enjoy the view even when having breakfast or dinner, enhancing the feeling of closeness with nature.
The mood theme and colours for decorating use earth tones matched with white. Some decorative highlights use grey or black to create a different feeling for a room.
Modern contemporary style allows flexibility for home-owners to decorate their homes as a do-it-yourself job because the theme mixes and matches between modern furniture styles that are functional and designed to serve modern lifestyles, Visanu said.
