Ubon Ratchathani, Yasothon and Amnat Charoen welcomed 2 million visitors in 2008, who generated over Bt3.8 billion in tourism revenue for the three northeastern provinces.

Tourism Authority of Thailand's Ubon Ratchathani office, which oversees the three provinces, said that over Bt3.5 billion of revenue was originated in Ubon Ratchathani. Of total, 1.8 million visitors were Thais.

The office believed that the "Visit Isan" campaign during 2008-2010 should boost the tourism business in the Northeast by at least 12 per cent, with focus on culture enthusiasts.
