Petrochems keep staff, seek more experts

The petrochemical industry not only has no plans to lay off workers but also still needs more experts to develop the business, the Federation of Thai Industries said yesterday. The FTI has joined hands with educational institutions, such as Chulalongkorn University, to produce more petrochemical experts to serve demand.

Veerasak Kositpaisal, head of the FTI's Petrochemical Club, said yesterday that the industry still needed local workers for plants, particularly those in Rayong.

"We want to develop human resources to serve the country's long-term strategy to focus more on energy saving," he said.
