Kasit presided over the launching ceremony of a guidebook for journalists covering Thai-Lao events. The guidebook is a joint project of the Thai Journalists Association and the Lao Journalists Association to help news people avoid using words or phrases that could lead to misunderstandings.

In the 1980s, bilateral relations were severely affected by Thai broadcasters living in Northern Thailand, who often used words with dubious meanings in the Lao language.
