
He added the minister had the constitutional right to take to the rally stage of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD). But the PM insisted that he and the Democrat Party did not have any special connection with the PAD or Kasit. "If the PAD or any one break the law, officials will have to enforce law on them,'' he said.
The Cabinet on Tuesday issued its members nine-point policy that includes media interview restrictions. All ministers are required to give press interview in the same direction of government policies.
Abhist said Kasit made the comment before the government had issued policies about media interview and he did not know the context in which Kasit was speaking.
Kasit on Wednesday apologised to the public over his remark after paying homage to the statue of HRH Prince Devavongse Varoprakarn on his first day in office.
Kasit was quoted by The Telegraph that he enjoyed the airport closures by the PAD because the food was good and the music was excellent.
According to the Telegraph, Kasit told an audience of astonished diplomats and foreign journalists last week that the PAD protest was "a lot of fun."
Kasit defended that he had no intention to harm the country and Thai people.
"I apologise to all Thai people if what I had said has resulted in misunderstanding or misinterpretation."
