The Criminal Court yesterday sentenced a Thai man - who took revenge on an ex-girlfriend who dumped him by releasing their sex pictures onto the Internet last year - to 9 months' imprisonment and had him pay the victim Bt200,000 in compensation.
According to the lawsuit, 34-year-old defendant Putthipong Chalardthanyakit had tarnished his ex-girlfriend's reputation by publishing two pictures of them having sex via e-mails to Internet users from September 18, 2007 - December 11, 2007. The victim filed a police complaint leading to Putthipong's arrest on April 18,this year, in Phetchabun.
The court considered evidence that defendant and victim were lovers and had their sexual activities recorded on many occasions. However, after the break-up, the defendant became jealous and released sex pictures on to the Internet, images that had not been seen publicly during their time as lovers.
The court was convinced the pictures were transferred from a computer seized when the defendant was arrested.
The court sentenced Phutthipong to nine months in jail (three months on a libel charge and another six months for the violation of the Computer Crime Act). It also ordered him to pay Bt200,000 in compensation to the victim.
