Kasit to report to work Wednesday

Newly-appointed Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya will report to duty at 9.00 am Wednesday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Tharit Charungvat said Tuesday.

Kasit is scheduled to perform a worshiping ceremony for the auspicious start of his office. He will then chair a meeting with senior officials to outline his policies.

MFA permanent secretary Virasakdi Futrakul is expected to give the minister a briefing on work agendas.

Tharit said as a former diplomat, Kasit will likely warm up to his office within a short period of time.

MFA officials are well displined and willing to serve under any political overseer without any partisanship, he said.

Due to the political turbulence, the MFA recently saw six ministers going through its revolving door but the work between the ministry and Thai envoys abroad proceeded smoothly, he said.
