
The poll said this was the highest happiness indicator achieved among governments since General Surayud Chulanont came to power after the 2006 coup.
Meanwhile, 79.7 per cent of 3,516 respondents in 17 provinces said they can sleep better now after the new government was formed. Only 10.6 per cent said they have insomnia or cannot sleep well.
Some 38 per cent believe politics is improving since the new government was formed, whereas around 28 per cent said it would get worse, and 33.6 per cent did not express an opinion.
Almost 60 per cent of respondents backed Abhisit Vejjajiva as prime minister.
However, among correspondents in Bangkok 51.1 per cent said they supported Abhisit, while 48.9 per cent rejected him.
Up to 65.9 per cent of respondents in cities and municipality areas outside Bangkok said they backed Abhisit, while 59.2 per cent of those living outside municipality areas supported him.
After political fortunes have turned, 59 per cent of respondents said they had hopes this government can carry the country forward, while 41 per cent remain worried about its near future.
