THAI faces legal claim

Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) has faced legal claim lodged by the New Zealand Commerce Commission (NZCC) at the High Court of New Zealand in Auckland.

The claim alleged that THAI, together with other 13 airlines, agreed to the level of fuel surcharges and security surcharges in contravention of New Zealand's Commerce Act, which caused damage to the consumers in New Zealand.

According to the THAI's filing to the Stock Exchange of Thailand today, NZCC has requested the court to order THAI to pay pecuniary penalty and costs, the amounts of which are not specified in the statement of claim.

THAI has already appointed a specialized local law firm to handle this case.
