The officer, responsible the police crackdown on anti-gov?ernment protestors on October 7, said he was ready to testify before the National Counter Corruption Commission about his role in the police operation, which resulted in two deaths and hundreds of people getting injured.
"I don't feel any pressure or uneasiness at Abhisit Vejjajiva becoming prime minister. Whoever is in power, police still need to perform their duties to maintain public order under order from their superiors," he said.
"We follow standard proce?dures in handling protesters, whether they are in yellow or red shirts."
However, when asked to comment on speculation that officers responsible for "violent" handing of protesters would be dealt with, and that he was one of those who may be replaced, Suchart said: "Another transfer again?"
Suchart's predecessor, Pol Lt General Assawin Khwanmueng, was replaced by Samak Sundaravej a few weeks before October 7, for reported?ly refusing an order from the then prime minister to crack down on protesters from the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD).
