MP from Sakon Nakhon disqualified for raising frame-up charges

The Election Commission on Thursday decided to disqualify MP Pongsak Boonson from Sakon Nakhon's constituency 3 on the ground for framing rival candidates in order to sway votes in the December 23 general election.

Pongsak ran under the banner of disbanded People Power Party and he has switched to Pheu Thai Party.

Under the electoral rules, the EC decision will be forwarded for the judicial review by the Supreme Court. If the decision is confirmed by the high court, Pongsak will lose his House seat as well as having to pay for the costs for the by-election, estimated at Bt15 million.
