The Nokia N97
The Nokia N97, which its maker claims is the world's most advanced mobile computer, offers to transform the way people connect to the Internet and with each other.
It creates a new space in the blurred realm between smart phones and laptop computers.
The N97 is a true mobile computer and a new flagship phone from Nokia that comes with a tilting touch-screen display, a QWERTY keyboard and a home screen that is able to be personalised.
It has a 3.5-inch screen of 640 x 360 pixels, giving the display a 16:9 aspect ratio. The device operates in High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA), enabled with WiFi, has Bluetooth radios and a global positioning system (GPS).
It supports up to 48GB of storage, including 32GB of on-board memory, expandable with a 16GB microSD card. Its battery is capable of up to one and a half days of continuous audio playback and four and a half hours of video.
It is embedded with multiple sensors, memory, processing power and connection speeds that are designed for people to create a personal Internet presence and to share their social location. Since the N97 is location-savvy, it is automatically sensing where it is at any given time via A-GPS. It enables users to update their social networks automatically with real-time information, giving approved friends the ability to update their status and share their social locations as well as related pictures or videos.
The N97 is also perfectly suited for browsing the web, streaming flash videos and playing games. Both the physical QWERTY keyboard and virtual-touch input create efficiency in blogging, chatting, posting, sending texts or e-mailing.
The Nokia N97 is expected to be available locally in the first half of 2009 at an estimated retail price of Bt25,816, plus tax.
